Tournament Rules

  • Protective Eyewear is MANDATORY.
  • Each draw will be completed before the next one starts on each day. This means the ladies draw will start Saturday morning and run through to completion, at which time the mens draw will begin.  The start time for the mens draw is targeted for 12:30pm, however it is dependent on the timely completion of the ladies draw.  It will not begin earlier than 12:30pm.  The same is true for Sunday with Mixed Intermediate in the morning and Mixed Advanced in the afternoon.
  • All players are required to have a DUPR account.
  • Game results will be entered in DUPR following the completion of the tournament.
  • Men’s and Ladies Division – assuming an 8 team draw, men’s and ladies draws will consist of two pools of four with each pool playing a round robin, one game to 15, win by 1. After completion of the round robin the top two teams in each pool will play off for places 1-4 and the bottom two teams in each pool will play off for places 5-8.  Prizes will be awarded to the top 2 teams in the top draw and the winner of the bottom draw.
  • Mixed Division – assuming a 16 team draw, mixed draws will consist of 4 pools of 4 with each pool playing a round robin, one game to 15, win by 1. After completion of the round robin there will be a playoff tbd to ensure all teams additional game(s).
  • All participants, spectators, and volunteers are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times. Foul language, abusive behavior, or mistreatment of players, officials, or volunteers will not be tolerated under any circumstances.  Any individual who violates this code of conduct may be subject to immediate removal from the tournament area and/or disqualification from the event.  Let’s keep the atmosphere respectful, fun, and competitive for everyone involved.
  • The tournament director reserves the right to add, combine, modify or cancel skill levels/events pending registration numbers. Events can also be rescheduled/cancelled as needed pending weather and other outside influences beyond our control.

 

PLEASE NOTE:  This is an outdoor event with no make-up date.  In the event of inclement weather that requires the cancellation of any events a refund is NOT available.  If events are in mid play when a weather or unforeseen circumstance occurs the situation will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine if the event may be finished or if winners may be determined.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS, ASSUMPTION OF RISK & INDEMNITY AGREEMENT

In consideration of being permitted to participate in any activities, programs, lessons, leagues, tournaments, open play, clinics, camps, events, or use of facilities at PGTPC (the “Club”), including tennis and pickleball, I agree as follows: 

1. Assumption of Risk

I acknowledge that participation in tennis and pickleball involves inherent risks, including but
not limited to: slipping or falling, collisions with other participants, being struck by balls or
paddles, contact with nets, fences, posts or equipment, uneven or wet playing surfaces, weather
conditions, equipment failure, overexertion, and the negligence of other participants.
I freely and voluntarily assume all risks of personal injury, disability, death, and property
damage arising out of or related to my participation in any Club activity or use of the facilities. 

 2. Release and Waiver of Liability

I hereby release, waive, discharge, and forever hold harmless PGTPC and its directors, officers,
employees, volunteers, members, sponsors, independent contractors, and agents (collectively, the
“Releasees”) from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, damages, costs, or
expenses arising from personal injury, death, or property loss sustained by me, whether caused
by the negligence, breach of duty, or other acts or omissions of the Releasees, while participating
in or preparing for tennis, pickleball, or any Club activity.
This release applies to all claims whether known or unknown, foreseen or unforeseen. 

 3. Indemnity

I agree to indemnify and save harmless the Releasees from any and all claims, actions, damages,
costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from my participation in Club activities, my
conduct, or my breach of this Agreement. 

 4. Property Loss and Theft

I understand and agree that the Club is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged personal
property, including but not limited to phones, wallets, keys, racquets, bags, clothing, jewelry,
cash, vehicles, or contents thereof, whether inside or outside the facility.
I assume full responsibility for securing and protecting my belongings. 

 5. Medical Fitness and Emergency Care

I represent that I am physically and medically fit to participate and have no condition that would
impair my ability to safely take part in tennis or pickleball activities.
In the event of injury, accident, or illness, I authorize the Club and its representatives to obtain
emergency medical treatment on my behalf. I agree to be responsible for any medical or related
expenses incurred. 

 6. Rules, Safety, and Conduct

I agree to comply with all posted rules, policies, safety guidelines, codes of conduct, and
instructions of Club staff and officials. I agree to act in a respectful, sportsmanlike, and safe
manner at all times while on Club property or participating in Club activities. 

 7. Membership Suspension and Termination

I understand and agree that failure to follow Club rules, safety guidelines, booking policies, or
standards of respectful play, including but not limited to abusive language, harassment,
intimidation, cheating, unsafe behavior, damage to property, or repeated non-compliance with
staff instructions, may result in disciplinary action.
Such action may include warnings, temporary suspension, removal from specific programs, or
termination of membership or participation privileges, at the sole discretion of the Club, without
refund and without liability to the Club.
I further agree that I am responsible for the conduct of any guests or minor participants I bring to
the Club. 

 8. Photo and Media Release

I grant the Club permission to use photographs, video, or audio recordings of me taken during
Club activities for promotional, educational, website, social media, or marketing purposes
without compensation or further approval. 

 9. Binding Agreement and Governing Law

This Agreement is binding upon me, my heirs, executors, administrators, personal
representatives, and assigns.
This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the
Province of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada.

10. Minors (Participants Under 19 in British Columbia)

If the participant is under the age of 19, I represent that I am the parent or legal guardian of the
minor participant. I consent to the minor’s participation and agree to all terms of this Agreement
on behalf of the minor and myself.
I release, waive, discharge, and indemnify the Releasees from all claims arising from the minor’s
participation, and I authorize emergency medical care for the minor if required.

11. Acknowledgement

I confirm that I have read and understood this Agreement, that I am signing it voluntarily, and
that by signing I am giving up certain legal rights, including the right to sue.
